Mud Debating

Well, this is the place for MUD debating. So, what do you have to say about them?
Alter Aeon is the best mud, Valhalla I don't get, Return of the Jedi isn't all that interesting, Miriani is the best space moo. Things of that nature.

okay:

squidmoo (squidsoft building game) they've got a neat idea, it's just ashame that their's hardly anyone their to help when something goes wrong- and that it can be really buggy at times. like, you can create something and then try to drop it- and it says it can't find it.. something like that

alter eon: good, but never quite worked out the navigation system on their. takes me like an hour to find the diffrent towns and stuff. quests are awsome though

miriani: good concept, lots of good activities. i think the main thing their is to have a goal- know where you want to be in the game. if not- it will soon just dry up doing the same thing over and over. but the social side of it is awsome, and it's cool you can talk privately between players, own apartments, that kind of thing

valhalla: nice start, the tutorial for newbies is an awsome idea- but then it goes down hill instantly, with just killing players, and the quests being nothing that special... come to think of it, i don't even think they have many on their. also with valhalla, their's only a few players online at once- makes it harder to get help. only thing that could make people stay around is getting entered in to the book of blood, the only insentive..

star conquest: i only just joined this mud, and i've mixed reviews of it so far

advantages: helpful players, some commands like activities like on miriani.. salvaging, courier work, asteroid hauling.. if you can do them on miriani, you can do them on SC. also combat is a little easier because you don't have to bother with coords, just aim north, or aim east, etc etc

dis advantages:

horrible mapping system, even the shopping guide is hard to follow,

can not talk on private links (either through the main channels) or on metaf are the only ways to do it

not enough host run events- and it gets boring when the only excitement is to shoot pirates down

a very diffrent social sort of atmosphere (in my opinion anyway)

and that's all the muds i've tried so far- debating on hell moo or ardwolf next, or perhaps avatar

I actually quite liked Valhalah as a first mud. If you ask me, the worst thing about it is that it is not RP enforced. And I've always found multiclass systems kind of cheesy and unrealistic. Then again, anyone who has ever gamed with me can tell you I am a gigantic genre nazi, and if things are not true to what they profess themselves to be, I get irritated very quickly.
New Worlds is a perfect example of what can happen to a good idea when left to players either uneducated or uncaring about the integrity of the orld and admin too busy dominating the game wth their own superpowered characters. That only scratches the surface of what is wrong with that particular game, and I could fill a whole post with it. But I won't unless it comes up again.
Alter Eon wasn't especially terrible, aside from that silly multiclass feature, and the fact that it is also not supportive of roleplay. Those two things saw me off the game in relatively short order. The magic system looked promising though, one could collect spider legs off dead spiders for spell components.
Star Conquest was better than Meriani in my opinion. There is a story, slow moving though it can sometimes be. Meriani just kind of seems like a cheap knockoff where twinks congrigate.
I'm ... not entirely sure what to say about hell moo. It's not great, by any means. It's crudity simply for crudity's sake. Coded sex and STD's, coded abortion, a general all purpose sespool of mindless shock humor. But it has a well developed combat and crafting system, and a playerbase that's wide and helpful enough that getting into it isn't too difficult. Just keep in mind what you're getting into. It takes a special kind of desensitized person to thrive on that game.
I've tried so many muds, it's ridiculous. You go now.

I've seen the benefits of Star Conquest, but it is truly boring. No missions, and very little combat difficulties.
Is Aardwolf any good, and what are the connection info?

Yeah, if you're looking for roleplaying, Alter Aeon isn't the game for you. I personally don't like RP and wouldn't play an RP game, so I don't require it on AA. You might try New Worlds Ateraan or Threshold instead - those are really good RP enforced games from what I hear.

Alter is one of the better games out there now, and SC is good if you look for things to do instead of waiting for them to come to you.

Star Conquest is crap, it burns out too quickly. Hellmoo is mre or less roleplying, as you're grinding back to various locations to get skills.

Hell goes to far for me, I will stay with mariani.
